Known for its ability to strengthen and support rebuilding of the bone matrix as well as its ability alleviate bone pain, Birch is often used as an anti-arthritic and anti-neuralgic in ointments and analgesic balms. The analgesic and anti-inflammatory properties of Birch make it effective for arthritis, rheumatism, gout and helping the body to mend broken bones.
Birch also contains powerful astringent and antiseptic properties, making it excellent for use in skin tonics and body liniments. It is useful in eliminating dandruff and flaky skin, and can be quite beneficial in the treatment of eczema and acne.
Birch's detoxifying properties may be helpful in releasing cellulite and reducing obesity. Historically it has been used to make medicinal wines and teas for diuretic purposes, and as such may be useful for urinary infections or kidney stones.
Supportive in diminishing worry, Birch contains constituents which are invigorating to the mind yet relaxing to the nervous system. Combined with Basil, it will relieve mental strain when one is overburdened with excessive left brain activity.
