Essential Oils 101
"Thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over." ~ Psalm 23:5 Daily applications of essential oils in Biblical times were extensive, indeed. Thirty-six of the 39 books of the Old Testament and 10 of the 27 books of the New Testament mention essential oils or the plants that produce them. These were the medicines provided by God.
Essential oils are the volatile essence extracted from aromatic plants and a true gift from nature. Pure therapeutic essential oils contain the true essence of the plant from which they are derived.
Whether used for stress reduction and relaxation, to calm an upset stomach, relieve back pain or disinfect a cut, essential oils are indispensable for the home medicine cabinet. We believe essential oils are a safer and more effective alternative to the use of toxic home cleaners and disinfectants, eliminating the need for antibacterial products.
True, unadulterated essential oils, have been scientifically proven to be anti-infectious, antibacterial, antiviral, antiseptic, antifungal, antiparasitic, and truly life enhancing in every way!
Fun and easy to work with, they are anti-infectious, preventative and promote physical and psychological well-being. Living the aromatic healing lifestyle of Essential Oils is good for you, your children, your pets and the earth.
An "essential oil" is a liquid of natural aromatic chemical compounds that are extracted from plants. These chemical compounds can be extracted from various parts of the plant, including the roots, stems, bark, seeds, and flowers.
Plants use these natural aromatic chemical compounds in a variety of ways, such as: growing, protecting the plant from the environment, and avoiding disease. When these natural chemical compounds are extracted into essential oils, humans can also benefit from these powerful, healing and protective compounds.
The chemical makeup of essential oils is unique and cannot be duplicated by science. Researchers have discovered over 1,000 different chemical components in essential oils with many more yet to be discovered and analysed.
In fact, many modern medications are created in an attempt to duplicate some of these natural chemical compounds, but the chemical (synthetic) based medications have harsh side effects and they are not as effective as using the natural chemical compound(s) distilled from the plant.
White Willow Bark, used over 2,000 years ago by Hippocrates to ease headaches and other muscular pains, contains an aromatic chemical compound called salicin. Salicin is now available in a synthetic version, salicylic/acetylsalicylic acid, more commonly known as the aspirin found in most homes today. White Willow Bark is still routinely used by herbalists today for the natural version of salicin. They use it to relieve pain and inflammation without the use of synthetic compounds.
Essential oils are miniscule in molecular size, which means they are absorbed well through the skin. Their small molecular size provides then with the unique ability to help with healing and nourishing. However, they do not accumulate in the body over time - they simply offer up their healing properties and then pass on through the body.
Because of science's ability to isolate and synthesize particular constituents, you must be careful to ensure that the essential oils that you use haven't been adulterated with isolated or synthetic compounds.
